Dragons have found many ways to connect to the world. Many dragons have one method or another to let them find peace of mind. Some dragons have their method being a way for them to have a deeper understanding of themselves.
And, truly, is there a better way to understand yourself than through poetry?
It can be both extremely structured as the bones in your body or as free flowing as your spirit. It can express the world in a purely metaphorical sense or have a balance between the physical and the spiritual. And if you don't want to write poetry, reading a poem can make you realize something new about yourself.
While many are afraid that they won't be able to write a poem, that is a baseless fear. Writing your first poem is a long and arduous journey that is full of fear and uncertainty, but it can be completed. Any dragon can spend countless months and hold up a poem that is full of their blood. It is doable.
Having a poetry class will make it so that many of my fellow clanmates can understand the beauty and wonder of this joyful art. An art that many think of as magical but is much more grounded than the spiritual realm. Any dragon can write a poem if only they overcome their fear.
If Seitou decides to do this, I will be more than happy to teach others the craft of writing poetry. I would be more than happy about teaching other dragons how to better understand themselves. I will also be more than happy about teaching dragons about poets of the past and the poetry they wrote.
And if there is someone better than me to teach this subject, I will be more than happy to attend the class.
