Assassins Take the Easy Way Out
Written by Mustafar
I am open minded to a point. I understand why dragons with differing opinions are in this clan. We need both warriors and diplomats to help keep the clan safe. Both do so in different ways. The former takes to claw and teeth for safety while the latter takes to words and peacekeeping for safety.
Two unique ways of dealing with a problem while accomplishing the same goals.
While my spies gather information, Jash's assassins kill those that would harm the clan. Two unique ways of defending the clan but only one way shows intelligence.
My way.
Killing is something any fool can do. It is more than simple to decide to end someone's life. Someone sees you sneaking around and so you kill them discreetly to hide your presence takes skill. Or even targeting a dragon and killing them without anyone knowing it was an assassination takes skill. But still the fault remains that you are solving the problem simply.
Anyone can kill to get rid of a problem, only those more refined see another way. Sneaking into places to gather information so that the target can be manipulated into not being a danger. Threatening to expose the dragon's secrets or merely having the knowledge that someone was there can make dragons stop what they were doing.
Also gathering information, things that were supposed to be hidden, can give you an edge on the competition. Can make battles end before they even begin.
Killing is necessary in certain instances, but only when every other option has been ruled out.
For those worried that I am calling for disbanding the Assassin Department, I'm not. I am merely pointing out the inherent flaws of it. The fact that the department is necessary doesn't have to cause me any joy. An acceptance of the ways of life is enough.
